Thank you to all the neighbors and candidates who attended the multi-organization sponsored forum for candidates for Multnomah County Chair, hosted virtually on April 5th, 2022. If you missed the event, you can view the video below or on our YouTube channel.

Each candidate chose a specific question to answer during the event and all candidates submitted written answers to every question asked by the group. See the documents below to read their unedited written responses.

The Multnomah County Chair is often an “under the radar” election despite the significant power and influence that this position holds in our local government. Our coalition has organized the forum to raise awareness of this election within our community in order to better inform their decision around this election. The forum will also offer an opportunity for the public to directly address questions and concerns to the candidates.

Masks Recommended by Multnomah County due to rise in COVID-19 cases

July 26: Due to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases, Multnomah County Public Health strongly recommends that everyone five years of age and older wear masks in indoor public settings whether vaccinated or not.

Masks and physical distancing are still required in

  • airports and public transit
  • adult and youth detention facilities
  • healthcare settings
  • shelters and transitional housing

TODAY is Election Day.Ballots must be received before 8:00 PM tonight, November 3, 2020!

Today, November 3, 2020 is the last day to vote in the November 3 General Election. Ballots must be received before 8:00 PM tonight for them to count. It is too late to mail your ballot back, and postmarks do not count. Use an Official Ballot Drop Site to safely and securely return your voted ballot. Return your ballot to any 24-hour Official Ballot Drop Site in Oregon or to any 24-hour Multnomah County Library Drop Site. Please return your voted ballot to the Official Ballot Drop Site closest to you (Google Map) to reduce congestion at other locations.

Ballots are continuously picked up from library locations and Official Ballot Drop Boxes by teams of sworn election officials throughout the day. These sites will close promptly at 8:00PM tonight. All 30 of Multnomah County Official Ballot Drop Sites, including library locations, are safe and secure. Official Ballot Drop Sites in Multnomah County are listed below and at multco.us/dropsites.

Ballots Due Before 8:00 PM TONIGHT!

It is too late to mail ballots, and postmarks do not count. Voters can use any 24-hour official ballot-return box site as well as any Multnomah County Library 24-hour book-return box to safely and securely deposit ballots.

Multnomah County voters who do not receive a ballot by Thursday, May 7th should call the county elections office at 503-988-VOTE. 

Multnomah County Elections encourages voters to stay home, stay safe and vote by mail. Thanks to prepaid postage legislation passed in 2019 — a stamp is no longer needed!

Multnomah County voters have until May 14th to safely mail back their ballot for the May 19 Primary Election.  After that date, use any Official Ballot Drop Site in Oregon, to return ballots by 8:00 PM, May 19, 2020. To find your nearest official ballot drop site, visit multco.us/dropsites

Voted ballots must be received by 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 19th. For more information about the May 19th Primary Election, please visit www.mcelections.org.

First 2019 Multnomah County Burn Ban Issued

Multnomah Fire Defense Board has issued an outdoor burn ban effective Thursday, May 9, 2019, in all areas of Multnomah County.

The burn ban has been issued due to forecasted high temperatures, limited rainfall and ongoing dry conditions.

The burn ban includes recreational campfires, fire pits, yard debris, agricultural burning and permits issued for open burning until further notice. Check with your local Fire Department/District for more information. For updated information please call the burning information line at:

Outdoor barbecuing is still allowed; however, community members should exercise extreme caution. When using charcoal briquettes please properly dispose of ashes in a covered metal container away from combustibles, and keep the ashes wet for a few days before properly disposing of them. Maintain at least ten feet between outdoor cooking and anything combustible such as siding, fences, shrubbery, etc.

Smokers are reminded to ensure their cigarettes are truly out and placed in proper receptacles.

Those living in rural areas are asked to maintain their defensible space by monitoring growth surrounding homes and structures, and to maintain adequate access for firefighting equipment.

**The National Weather Service has issued a RED FLAG warning today in consideration of expected high winds. This increases the fire danger significantly and is a rare this time of year.

May 21, 2019 Special District Election for Multnomah County

From Multnomah County Elections: 
The next election in Multnomah County is a local election. The Special District Election will be held on May 21, 2019 for local school district, water district, and rural fire protection district board members. There may also be local measures that include requests for local tax money or proposed changes to laws. Special District Elections are held every odd number year in May.
