“EXPLORING BD: More great artisans amongst us!” Out of discards, rejects, old finials, and planed cedar fencing, Corky Hammond and his partners, Terry and Tony, create fanciful chairs, settees, wishing wells, and more. Over the years, the three have saved thousands of items from going to a landfill. Their use of MetroPaint, remade new from unwanted paint, diverts discarded paint from a landfill destination.
Because of all this recycling, the furniture prices are VERY reasonable.
As you walk along SE Knapp Street, you can see examples of the partners’ handiwork in the yards and on the porches of their neighbors. But the three have also sold hundreds of items as far away as Mt. Hood, where once an entire trailer-load of pieces was snapped up before Corky and partners could reach the artisans’ fair that was their destination.)
The partners build and sell their furniture from their home at 5234 SE Knapp Street, almost at SE 52nd Avenue. Their next sales will be July 15th and 16th from 10am to 7pm. Look for their large signs proclaiming “ARTISAN SALE”, which they post on Knapp Street at 52nd and at 60th avenues. As you walk along SE Knapp Street, you can see examples of the partners’ handiwork in the yards and on the porches of their neighbors.
When the autumn rains begin to fall, the partners pack up their unsold pieces and wait for the dry weather of the following year to begin their work and sales once more.
