2022 Board Elections in May!

Board elections are Thursday, May 5th, 2022 at our regularly scheduled public monthly board meeting, 7:00-9:00PM.  Everyone is welcome!

What does a board member do?

  • Attend at least 10 monthly board meetings per year, held the 1st Thursday of every month from 7:00-9:00PM.
  • Volunteer at events, on committees, and/or for other board duties.
  • Discuss and vote on neighborhood issues, appoint committees (as needed), and work on projects pertaining to Brentwood-Darlington and the surrounding region.

What about elected positions?

The BDNA has four elected officers: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, and one elected committee leader: Land Use Chair.

  • The Chair is responsible for presiding over meetings, drawing up the agenda, and generally representing the board and neighborhood when necessary. (Average monthly time commitment ~20-40 hours)
  • The Vice Chair assists the Chair and steps in when the Chair is unable to perform their duties. (Average monthly time commitment ~10-20 hours)
  • The Secretary maintains non-financial records and a list of board members, takes minutes at meetings, and answers correspondence. (Average monthly time commitment ~10-20 hours)
  • The Treasurer is responsible for all funds belonging to the BDNA and must maintain records and report on those funds monthly. (Average monthly time commitment ~10-20 hours)
  • The Land Use Chair is responsible for hosting the Land Use Committee (LUC) meetings, preparing the LUC agenda and newsletter, and generally fielding land use questions and concerns. (Average monthly time commitment ~20-40 hours)

What if I don’t want to join the Board, but still want to volunteer?

You don’t have to be a board member to participate, only to vote on board decisions. We invite all neighbors to attend meetings, share ideas and concerns, volunteer on committees and at events, and lead special projects! There are also many administrative tasks that require a small time commitment, but serve an important purpose. If you want to participate, there is something for you to do, no matter your capabilities or time availability.

Willing to attend a meeting and report back?

There are many community meetings happening all the time that we don’t have enough people to attend. Just a few are listed below. Is there a meeting you already attend and would like to report to the BDNA on? Let us know!

Join us on May 5th and get more involved in YOUR neighborhood!
