Work Party – Next Weekend!

Please join us for our final work party of the spring season on Saturday, June 2nd, from 10am-1pm.

Work party projects:

  • Mulch madness!
  • Sprucing up the student beds
  • Painting signs

Please bring your own reusable water bottle and a snack to keep you energized.

Plant Sale!

Our final plant sale of the season will be during the work party on June 2nd, from 10am-1pm.

Plants for sale include:

  • Summer squash
  • Various flowers
  • Herbs
  • Houseplants

Plants will be for sale inside Greenhouse 5. Cash or check only.

Work Party and Plant Sale Reminder

A friendly reminder that our work party AND plant sale are happening next weekend, on Saturday, May 12th, from 10am-1pm.
Our work party projects for next weekend are:
  • Setting up drip-irrigation system
  • Installing a new sink at the water shed
  • Creating a bamboo fencing around the children’s play area
  • Pulling weeds
  • Cover cropping
Please remember to bring clothing appropriate for working outside (and sunscreen!), as well as a water bottle and snack.
The plant sale is cash only, and we recommend you bring a bag to carry plants home in. Can’t make it to this plant sale? Don’t worry! We have added another plant sale to celebrate our final work party of the season, taking place on Saturday, June 2nd, from 10am-1pm.

LGL February Work Party

The Learning Gardens Lab is having a work party on Saturday, February 24th, from 10:00AM-1:00PM. Join them as they prepare for spring growth! Opening circle will begin promptly at 10:00AM.
There are several projects on the agenda for this work party, some of which will be dependent on the weather:
  • Fruit tree pruning
  • Tool care & organization
  • Washing pots for seed starts and the spring plant sale
  • Seed propogation
  • Moving compost into Hügelkultur location
  • Transplanting asparagus
Please dress accordingly, and bring a snack and water to keep yourself energized. The next work party will take place on Saturday, March 10th.

Friends of Errol Heights November Work Party

Saturday, November 18, 9:00 AM-noon

Join Portland Parks & Recreation and the Friends of Errol Heights to complete important ecological enhancement projects at this little gem of a Park. Keep your eye out for beaver, ducks and other wildlife as you volunteer alongside other community members! Wear long thick pants, a long-sleeved shirt and sturdy shoes. Bring a water bottle, rain gear and sunhat. Instruction, tools, gloves, water, coffee/tea and snacks provided. Children welcome, and must be accompanied by an attentive adult.

Meet at: SE 52nd & SE Tenino Dr.  From Woodstock St., drive south on SE 52nd to SE Tenino Dr. (watch for a dirt road on your right, which is Tenino Dr.) Park along SE 52nd. Please be aware not to block neighbor’s driveways. From Johnson Creek Blvd., drive north on SE 45th Place, which turns into Harney Drive. Turn left onto SE 52nd and park near the next turnoff to Tenino Dr.

Tri-met bus: #75 will drop you off at SE 45th & Tenino Dr. Walk about 200 feet south on SE 45th and walk the trail through the natural area to the SE 52nd St. entrance (~ ½ mile).

Bike/Walk on the Springwater Corridor trail: www.PortlandOregon.gov/parks/springwatermap. Exit trail at the SE 45th St. entrance and then ride a short distance north and up the slight hill on Harney Drive. Turn left onto SE 52nd and left again onto SE Tenino Dr., which is a dirt road.
