SMART Volunteers Needed

There are SMART students at Woodmere and Whitman Elementary schools waiting to be read with!

Volunteer to read with SMART® (Start Making A Reader Today) for one hour a week! As a SMART volunteer, you’ll read one-on-one with kindergarten through third-grade students each week from mid-October through mid-May. The consistent, one-on-one time helps build literacy skills and self-confidence. SMART further encourages children to read outside the classroom by giving students new books each month to take home and keep.

Want to do more to support SMART at Whitman? We are looking for a leadership volunteer to help us co-coordinate the program. Without that support, we might not be able to serve the children at Whitman this year. Are you the person we’re looking for? Or do you know someone that might be? Let us know!

For more information about volunteering with SMART, view the flyer here.  Contact by calling 971-634-1628 or clicking here.
