Emergency Cooling Center at Brentwood-Darlington Community Center

Too hot where you are?  Join us in the air conditioning and enjoy wifi and cold drinks, tomorrow, Wednesday, July 27th from 1-8pm at Brentwood-Darlington Community Center (7211 SE 62nd Ave). Water bowls and misters will be set up outside to accommodate pets. Everyone is welcome.

Please note that the community center requires masks be worn inside the building. Masks and sanitizer will be available on-site for your convenience.

Volunteers Needed for Misting Station at Mt Scott Park

The Portland Bureau of Emergency Management, Parks & Recreation, and the Water Bureau have teamed up to open misting stations in public parks Thursday and Friday. Volunteer are needed to help set them up, break them down, and tend the sites throughout the day.

Hot-weather safety precautions apply:

  • Only volunteer if you are feeling well and are not in a high-risk group during heat
  • Volunteers must wear a mask for COVID-19 protection, for themselves and others
  • Drink lots of water
  • Use sunscreen and wear long sleeve/pants
  • Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
  • A meal will be provided
