The Lewis PTA is happy to announce that the annual Lewis Bake Sale returns this year!

Grab some coffee and goodies when you pick up your wreath or centerpiece. The bake sale will be held on Saturday, 12/4, from 10am-12pm at the front Lewis Parking Lot. Stay tuned: we will be looking for donations of store bought baked goods as the date gets closer.

Unfortunately, the PTA is unable to host the annual tree sale this year. The June heatwave took a toll on our vendor’s trees, and he is unable to provide us with trees this year. Thank you to Dave Harsey for his decade of support of the Lewis PTA by providing us with trees. Unfortunately, we are also unable to host the traditional Lewis Holiday Bazaar this year, due to PPS restrictions. We are looking forward to reviving this tradition next year.

Lewis Elementary PTA Holiday Tree Sale

Support our neighbors at Lewis Elementary!

Lewis Elementary PTA’s annual Christmas tree sale is this Saturday, December 5th from 10AM to 2PM. They will have Grand Firs ($6 per foot) and Noble Firs ($7 per foot). Cards or checks only, NO CASH. They will also have a very limited number of wreaths, swags, and centerpieces for sale. Come early for best selection. While you’re there you can grab some Munchy’s Kettle Corn, too. This year, the sale will be located in the front parking lot of the school at 4401 SE Evergreen Street. Please remember to wear a mask and observe social distancing guidelines while at the sale. Also, due to the pandemic, there will not be a holiday bazaar this year, only the outdoor tree sale. Thank you for supporting this Lewis holiday tradition!

Report Illegal Fireworks

What can you do when you hear/see illegal fireworks?  REPORT IT by calling 503-823-BOOM (503-823-2666)!

Brentwood-Darlington has a serious issue when it comes to illegal fireworks.  Last year two houses in our community were destroyed by fire due to illegal fireworks.  A few days ago, neighbors found this chunk of metal from a mortar (pictured below) smoldering in their yard. Luckily, no one was injured and no fires were started, this time.

Setting off fireworks before and after the 4th causes undue suffering and stress for children, animals, and veterans in our neighborhood.  Please report illegal fireworks and keep your own festivities safe and confined to the 4th of July. Looking for something fun to do?  Bring the family to the Brentwood-Darlington 4th of July Parade!

Holiday Garbage Service Reminder

All Portland residents with curbside collection service will have schedule changes from December 25 through January 6. There is no collection service on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. All pick-ups will happen one day later than usual. Pickup for Friday customers will happen on Saturday during this date range.

Winter weather

If garbage, recycling and compost collection must be delayed to the next scheduled collection day, twice the amount of the current subscribed service level will be collected on the next regularly scheduled collection day at no additional charge.

In the case of severe weather, collection will be prioritized in the following order:

  1. Garbage
  2. Recycling
  3. Composting

Leave your carts at the curb and your garbage and recycling company will collect them as soon as driving conditions permit. Your company will monitor the weather and driving conditions daily.  While your street may be clear, access to and from your neighborhood may not.

Stay ahead of the weather

Sign up for a weekly email that includes weather messages and reminders for your collection day at www.garbagedayreminders.com.
