Special performances by Habiba Addo, Olive and Dingo, and Jessa Campbell and the Saplings! Masks and social distancing protocols recommended. Spooktacular and Trunk-or-Treat 2019!

UPDATE! The PDX Avengers will be joining us for Spooktacular!  

Join us for our annual Spooktacular and Trunk-or-Treat event!  FREE, family-friendly festivities run from 4:00-7:00PM on October 26th at Brentwood-Darlington Community Center (7211 SE 62nd Ave, 97206). Shop the free costume closet, visit the decorated trunks, and play fun games! Bring food to share if you are able. Allergy friendly (non-food) treats available at this event! Trunk-or-Treat is held outside, please dress appropriately.  RSVP on Facebook here!

SHINRIN YOKU TOUR, Saturday, April 27, 2019, 11:00AM – 12:00PM Leach Garden is a powerful place of respite in bustling SE Portland. Join us for a soothing, expansive walk through the forest, meadow, and creek side.

BOTANICAL ECO-DYEING, April 28, 9:00AM – 4:00PM Textile artist Anna Zell will lead you step-by-step through the eco-printing process and you’ll take home your own eco-printed silk noil and either crepe de chine or charmeuse silk scarf. Cost: $125 general/$115 LBG Friend. Includes all silk fabric and dying supplies.

CREATING WILDLIFE HABITAT TREES, Saturday, May 4, 11:00AM-12:30PM More than a quarter of woodland wild-life species use dead and dying trees for food, shelter, and cover. Learn how snags can be coaxed into critical habitat with Board Certified Master Arborist and PCC instructor Anne LeSenne. Meet at the entrance to the Claybourne Parking Lot. $25.00 General/$20.00 LBG Friend

NATIVE BEE WORKSHOP Saturday, May 11, 1:00-4:00PM Join Jess Tyler for an overview of Oregon’s native bees, an examination of bees through dissecting scopes, followed by a chance to catch and release some as we take a guided tour through the Garden. $20 general/$15 LBG Friend

LILLA LIT, Sunday, May 19th, 4:00-6:00PM. We’re thrilled to announce Lilla Lit, a new signature literary reading series held at Leach Botanical Garden. Please join us for the inaugural Lilla literary event on the East Terrace to hear from these six acclaimed Portland authors: Justin Hocking, Apricot Irving, Keetje Kuipers, Nastashia Minto, Liz Prato, and Liz Scott. $10 suggested donation at the door.

Spooktacular and Trunk-or-Treat TODAY!

It’s today!! October 27th, 3:00-5:00PM at the Brentwood-Darlington Community Center parking lot (7211 SE 62nd Ave, 97206).  Who will take home the coveted Trunk-or-Treat Trophy?  We will have non-food treats available for those with allergies.  Children under 18 MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian!

Don’t forget to bring gently used costumes and dress-up pieces for our free costume exchange. We will also be gathering non-food items for the Lane Middle School Food Pantry.  See the list below and donate if you can!

Live music (local band: Babylon Star Destroyer), delicious food, fun for the kids, and hanging with your awesome neighbors make this a must attend summer event!

Improve Beaver Habitat at Errol Heights Park

Errol Heights Natural Area (Inner SE Portland)

Saturday, October 21, 9:00 AM-noon

Join Portland Parks & Recreation and the Friends of Errol Heights to complete important ecological enhancement projects at this little gem of a Park. Keep your eye out for beaver, ducks and other wildlife as you volunteer alongside other community members! Wear long thick pants, a long-sleeved shirt and sturdy shoes. Bring a water bottle, rain gear and sunhat. Instruction, tools, gloves, water, coffee/tea and snacks provided. Children welcome, and must be accompanied by an attentive adult.

Meet at: SE 52nd & SE Tenino Dr.  From Woodstock St., drive south on SE 52nd to SE Tenino Dr. (watch for a dirt road on your right, which is Tenino Dr.) Park along SE 52nd. Please be aware not to block neighbor’s driveways. From Johnson Creek Blvd., drive north on SE 45th Place, which turns into Harney Drive. Turn left onto SE 52nd and park near the next turnoff to Tenino Dr.

Tri-met bus: #75 will drop you off at SE 45th & Tenino Dr. Walk about 200 feet south on SE 45th and walk the trail through the natural area to the SE 52nd St. entrance (~ ½ mile).

Bike/Walk on the Springwater Corridor trail: www.PortlandOregon.gov/parks/springwatermap. Exit trail at the SE 45th St. entrance and then ride a short distance north and up the slight hill on Harney Drive. Turn left onto SE 52nd and left again onto SE Tenino Dr., which is a dirt road.
