Sparrowhawk Native Plants partners with community organizations to provide over 100 species of habitat-friendly and climate-resilient plants to local gardeners. This fall, they’re teaming up with Brentwood-Darlington Neighborhood Association, and the Green Thumb Garden Site (that’s us!), Portland Community College Sylvania’s Habitat Restoration Team, Columbia Slough Watershed Council and Friends of Tualatin Hills Nature Park. By our powers combined, over 40,000 native plants will take root and about $20,000 will go back to these inspiring community partners.

Concert in the Park this Friday, July 29th!

Summer Free For All Concert in the Park featuring Donna Jones and the Delegation
July 29th, 6:30-8:30pm at Brentwood Park

Join us for our first Summer Free For All Concert in the Park in Brentwood-Darlington!  We’ll be enjoying the sultry and soulful R&B sounds of Donna Jones and the Delegation at Brentwood Park while feasting on both sweet and savory items (available for purchase from on-site food vendors).  This all ages event is free for everyone to attend! 

Please note that Soak-It-Week blue buckets will be available for pickup from BDNA at this event.

While you’re at the concert… Visit the Multnomah County Master Gardeners’ Demonstration Garden ‘Ask a Master Gardener’ booth, get your gardening questions answered, bring home free educational materials and pick up directions for fun and interesting garden projects for all ages.

Emergency Cooling Center at Brentwood-Darlington Community Center

Too hot where you are?  Join us in the air conditioning and enjoy wifi and cold drinks, tomorrow, Wednesday, July 27th from 1-8pm at Brentwood-Darlington Community Center (7211 SE 62nd Ave). Water bowls and misters will be set up outside to accommodate pets. Everyone is welcome.

Please note that the community center requires masks be worn inside the building. Masks and sanitizer will be available on-site for your convenience.

July Soak-It-Week Happening Now!

It’s the first week of Soak-It-Week!  Do you have your blue buckets ready to go? It is especially important to water trees during this extreme heat.  If you still need pre-drilled blue buckets to support your yard trees, pick some up at the Concert in the Park (Friday, July 29th at Brentwood Park, starting at 6:30pm) or email us at brentwood.darlington@gmail.com to request buckets for pickup.

A reminder from BDNA that the Work Group meeting is not happening in July and August.
