SUMMARY:Lower SE Rising Area Plan Project Walk and Discussion
DESCRIPTION:The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is implementing recommended projects from the Lower Southeast Rising Area Plan and would like community input. On August 27\, PBOT staff are hosting a walk that will includes stops along 52nd Ave and 46th Ave. \nSE 52nd Ave (Duke to Flavel) is a funded near-term project. Improvements to 52nd Ave include crossing enhancements\, sidewalk infill\, and wider bike lanes. PBOT staff will discuss potential design options and trade-offs and want to hear community concerns and recommendations. \nSE 46th Ave (Woodstock to Glenwood) is another priority project from the Lower Southeast Rising Area Plan . PBOT staff are seeking funding for this project. PBOT’s Safe Routes to School team is working on a sidewalk project along the north side of Lewis Elementary on Glenwood and PBOT staff would like to learn more from community members about their concerns and ideas for this area. \nPBOT also has funding to implement other Lower Southeast Rising priority projects\, including neighborhood greenways on SE 46th\, SE 60th\, SE Tolman\, and SE Steele/Mitchell. PBOT staff will be available to discuss these upcoming projects and answer questions. \nStarting and ending location: Sidewalk in front of Starlight Knitting Society (7028 SE 52nd Ave\, Portland\, OR 97206). The walk will begin with introductory remarks at 5:30pm\, and we will begin walking around 5:40pm. \nDistance: Approximately 1 mile of walking \nContact: Corrine McQueen\, corrine.mcqueen@portlandoregon.gov \nUpdate on weather: Temperatures are expected to be around 90 degrees at the start of the walk. SUMMARY:Learning Gardens Lab presents Winter Wreath Festival
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our annual Winter fundraiser! This year\, we are expanding our Wreath Workshop into a Winter Festival with kids’ activities\, vendors\, a gift exchange/abundance table\, and more! It is free to attend the Winter Festival\, but you must buy a wreath workshop ticket if you’d like to make a wreath. Wreaths are available for pre-order to ensure your spot\, but we will also have some available for purchase the day of the event. All proceeds support our ongoing programming\, such as our K-5 field trip program\, our PSU capstone classes\, our community garden education\, and our free food distribution efforts!The workshop will take place in our heated greenhouse– locally foraged wreath-making materials and light refreshments will be provided! Children 12 and under can make a mini wreath free of charge. Wreath-making will be self-guided\, with tips and support as needed from the Learning Gardens Laboratory team.Outside\, we will have an assortment of vendors for all your gifting needs\, along with a gift exchange/abundance table of goodies that are free to take. Please bring any items\, produce\, or goods you would like to donate for the abundance table! We love gift-giving and want to make it as sustainable and intentional as possible by supporting local vendors and re-circulating items that already exist. For the kiddos\, we’ll have pine cone and wood cookie ornament crafting!The event will begin at 11 am\, but feel free to come anytime between 11 and 3. The last call for wreath-making will be at 2:30 pm. Tickets are on a sliding scale! If you’d like to make an additional donation to us\, you can do so here!
